Cork Pride 2009

I sat on the steering committee for the Cork Pride 2009 festival.  I produced the Cork Pride 2009 brochure, by securing a freelance designer (Pearse O’Shea) as the Art Director, and mapped the placement of ads in conjunction with my duties on the Fundraising subcommittee.   Working alongside the Fundraising Chairperson, we created a stationery suite of materials, as well as a Sponsorship Packet, which we posted out to around one hundred targeted potential donors.  The success of the fundraising (of which I claim only part of an overall team effort) speaks for itself: we raised around €5,000, which is more than triple of the previous year’s figures.

The Cork Pride 2009 brochure also showed improvement over that of previous years: I added an additional 30 pages onto the brochure, spread out the events by day, interspersed the ads on the left facing pages to increase visibility for our donors and to leverage bigger sponsors by juxtaposing them with more robust programming days.  By using ad space as a tool for negotiation, we were able to form strategic partnerships with the Imperial Hotel in Cork as well as various entertainers and vendors.
