Theatre
(Full Theatrical Resume Below)
I took part in several productions each year, in a variety of capacities. My acting skills were noted through the American College Theatre Festival selection committee, and I took part in a competition for a National Scholarship from the Kennedy Center. I also stage directed several shows, both for Suffolk University and local theatre groups and festivals.
In my sophomore year, I noticed a demand among first and second year students for acting roles and directing opportunities, which the academic department lacked the capacity to fulfill. Working with the department, I went on to produce a Classical Theatre Festival, focusing on the works of William Shakespeare. This allowed up to five student directors, and a dozen students, an additional opportunity at the practical application of the theory they had been learning in class. It was a success, and I was asked to take on the Producing Director role for a site specific piece developed by working professional Caitlin Langstaff.
I have not participated in larger productions in recent years due to work and pursuing my postgraduate. I have produced some smaller, solo pieces, including a touring cabaret act, and have volunteered with various productions in the U.S. and Ireland. Ultimately, my knowledge of Theatre as an educational, motivational, and political tool has served me well professionally; acting skills translate well into presenting at meetings, a director is the theatrical equivalent of a personnel manager, and stage managers/producers are often equated to the Demi-Gods of the stage (as they must remain in-control and omniscient, and ultimately anticipate whatever might occur.
